Chronological Table for the Amazon Kindle

Step Two, described on this page, is to print out this page with the table of jumps.

(If you have not yet underlining the key words in your Kindle e-books, you need to do Step One first.)

The first column of this table indicates the book that each section appears in. The books are abbreviated as follows:

The second and third columns indicate where each section begins. The second column gives the Kindle "location number" of the new section, and the third column gives the first few words of the paragraph where the section begins. Whenever you finish a section, you should jump to this location number in the specified book, look for these words, and begin reading from this point.

The fourth and fifth columns indicate where each section ends. This is provided just for reference. Normally you won't need to refer to these columns because you will know that your section ends when you see the underlined words. But these columns might come in handy if you lose your place in the book.

Now you can read! Start at the first location in the table above (the very beginning of The Silmarillion) and start reading. Whenever you come to an underline at the end of a paragraph, look at the table to determine which section to go to next. If it's in the same book as you are currently reading, use your Kindle to jump to the new location number. If it is in a different book, load that book and then jump to the specified location number.

Each time you jump to a new location, you will see a paragraph whose beginning is underlined. Continue reading from that point.

Namárië!
