Timelines

*   Alberto Monteiro and Stephen Geard wrote this timeline of all the ages of Middle Earth.

*   And Alberto has also created a five-dimensional timeline that chronicles the earlier versions of Tolkien's world! This "five-dimensional timeline" includes events from the Book of Lost Tales, The Shaping of Middle Earth, The Lost Road, and the "Notion Club Papers".

*   There's tons of great information in The Encyclopedia of Arda, including a timeline called The Chronicle of Arda.

*   There's a detailed timeline of the Lord of the Rings narrative on the Lord of the Rings Fanatics Network.

*   This Tolkien Timeline contains events in Tolkien's own life.

*   David Bratman's Tolkien Order has a different arrangement of Tolkien's works. It contains a different selection and a different organization than Chronological Tolkien. For a comparison of the two systems, see the Chronological Tolkien FAQ.

All the Myriad Links

*   Lalaith's Middle-earth Science Pages include geography, family trees, languages, family trees, calendars, and astronomy. Created by Andreas Möhn.

*   One Ring: The Complete Guide to Tolkien Online is an awesome directory to the hundreds of Tolkien sites online.

*   You can find a lot of good information at the Lord of the Rings Fanatics Network.

*   TheOneRing.net has a lot of great stuff, but it's dominated by analysis of the movie these days... or even plain old gossip. But they have a huge catalog of links to other Tolkien sites in a searchable database.

*   There's a huge list of Tolkien sites at the J.R.R. Tolkien Information Page, but it's now a bit out of date.

*   Steuard Jensen maintains the Tolkien Meta-FAQ.

*   The Tolkien Sarcasm Page has some hilarious stuff. Be sure to read the Synopsis of the Lord of the Rings, just like the infamous London Times reporter did.....

The Inklings

*   The Mythopoeic Society is the hub of fandom for the Inklings – J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Williams.

*   Into The Wardrobe is devoted to the works of C.S. Lewis.

Elvish Resources

These sites are much better and more accurate than the books you can find in bookstores!

*   The Elvish Linguistic Fellowship publishes the Parma Eldalamberon journal and the Vinyar Tengwar newsletter. They have access to Tolkien's unpublished linguistic materials and know an awful lot of Quenya and Sindarin.

*   The Fellowship of the Word-Smiths (Gwaith-i-Phethdain) is another great site for Tolkien's languages. Created by Ryszard Derdzinksi.

*   There's a free online Quenya Course. Learn basic Elvish in twenty lessons! Created by Helge Fauskanger.

*   Carl F. Hostetter maintains Resources for Tolkienian Linguistics, an awesome list of links to more information about Tolkien's languages – and even real languages, too.
