Space Monkey   The First Space Monkey

Space Monkey is mourning the cancellation of the U.S. space program.

Let's make the best of a bad situation. Private citizens should build a colony on the moon, today!

Instead of working through NASA, let's just have the federal government offer a giant cash reward to any corporation that builds a moon colony. We get a moon colony without all the bureaucracy.

We already have lotteries – the government is subsidizing people for not understanding math. Why can't we subsidize people for helping the human race colonize new worlds???

And then in a few decades, on to Mars!

Note: Zubrin's Mars-First movement is dangerous. He underestimates the difficulties involved. We don't yet have the right materials to provide radiation shielding for astronauts if a solar flare occurs during the journey. If we try this now and our astronauts die, it will set the whole space program back even farther than those bureaucrats at NASA have managed to do it.
